| First Street class scooter to reach 101mph! |
|
On 24th July 2011 the Shiny Red tuned gilera Runner SRT183 became the first scooter ever in the Street Legal class to break the 100mph barrier.
We made the long trip up to East Kirkby overnight for round 6 of the straightliners sprinting series, and woke to a sunny day with very strong gusts of wind.
Our
first run brought in a time of 13.52 which turned out to be our best
qualifying run, and only 0.07 seconds off our class track record for
East Kirkby.
However, the
moment of the day came on our 16th run when we heard the commentator
read out the magical and elusive figure.....Jordan O'Doherty runs
101mph!
The first scooter in the street legal class to ever break the 100mph barrier and cheers all round from the team.
Bearing
in mind, this scooter has been tuned as a reliable road bike, to be
tried and tested by our customers and easily replicable. The engine has
not been rebuilt for the last year, and considering it is mostly ridden
at full throttle this says it all.
A very memorable day for all involved.
