Prize giving  E-mail

So in January we attended the Straightliners AGM followed by a dinner dance for the prize giving.

We were a little disappointed after attending the AGM as the new rules for the bike classes had all been decided and voted on, yet the scooter classes still seemed to be up in the air. Apparently there had been a meeting to discuss proposals for the rule changes, however the attendees of the meeting were not disclosed despite the question being asked numerous times. Yet, whilst all the regular sprinters were present in one place, no votes were cast at the AGM and the rules would now be decided by a secret email ballot, the actual results of which were not published, other than that the proposals would go ahead.

Whatever the rules, we're happy to fit in to them, but it's handy to know what they're going to be before you start building for the next season.

One good thing to come from the meeting was the announcement that we are now ACU accredited (rather than IOPD) which will bring more recognition to the series hopefully.

The Trophy giving was preceded by a splendid dinner, although not as many as expected got into the spirit of the fancy dress theme 'Mods & Rockers'. Those of us that did certainly looked the part.

There was a huge array of trophies to give out, all well deserved and appreciated.
We managed to come away with one for winning our class - Automatic street Legal Scooter up to 200cc, and to our surprise we were awarded another for being Best Newcomers and achieving the most points of the series.

Much drinking and dancing followed, and a rare opportunity for us all to let our hair down.

Thanks go out to the Straightliners club for their organisation throughout the year and for putting on a fantastic night.

The trophies....
